Faster Route Server Installed in Chennai

A route server based on sophisticated technology, which will reduce access time to 500 milliseconds from just 5 seconds, has been set up in Chennai. Announcing this at the inauguration of the STPI IT Park at the Kumaraguru College on Saturday, Union communications and IT minister Dayanidhi Maran said, the server, which was made operational on August 5, would be helpful during times of disaster.

The server, the first of its kind in the country, he said, “will re-route internet traffic and will resolve addresses on the net.” Two more servers, one at Noida and another at Mumbai will be established by 25 August, the minister added.
