The CPU is a hardware component used in a hosting providers server that initiates and processes instructions received from software. The CPU your web hosting provider installs in their server will determine how many sites can be ran on said server before peformance begins to degrade. A high performance, multi-core CPU will allow for a large number of small to medium sized websites to be hosted on the same server with no loss of speed.
